MIDWAY, Ark. – A man has died in a brush fire officials say got out of control.

The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office identifies the victim as John Heenan, 79.

Sheriff John Montgomery says the sheriff’s office was contacted by the Midway Volunteer Fire Department just before 10 p.m. on Monday after firefighters walking in the Peace Valley Lane area found Heenan’s body.

The BCSO says he was found about 120 feet from where his burned pickup truck was parked. He’s believed to be the owner of the property where the fire happened.

Heenan’s body is being sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner’s Office in Little Rock for autopsy.
