LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – One man is recovering after accidentally shooting himself in his testicle in a hotel hallway Sunday.
On April 2, shortly before 8 p.m., officers were called to the Extended Stay America Hotel at 10800 Kanis Rd. in regards to a shooting.
Jacob Shelby, 34, of Greenbrier told police he was walking down the hall to his hotel room when he “mishandled” his 9mm handgun and accidentally shot himself in the left testicle.
Police say there were two children in the hotel room at the time, a 2-year-old and a 4-year-old. The children’s mother, Amanda Beckham, 36, of Little Rock, came to pick the children up after the incident.
Police say they confiscated the gun to turn over to crime scene investigators.
Shelby was taken to Baptist Hospital and doctors say his injures are not life threatening.
