NORTHWEST ARKANSAS – Major headliners in music made their way to the Bud Walton Arena Friday for the 2017 Walmart Shareholders Meeting.
We got an inside look at the biggest annual concert celebration in northwest Arkansas…
It’s Walmart’s biggest meeting of the year, discussing changes taking place globally for the company, but the event is more than a business meeting… Hosts and headliners were there to entertain the crowd. Big names like Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani and Mary J. Blige took the stage.
The 47th annual meeting exceeded its originally anticipated 14,000 people, maxing out capacity in the Bud Walton Arena for the event.
But even with all the fun, business was still the main focus.
“Walmart U.S. has reported 11 straight quarters of positive comp sales and 10 straight quarters of comp traffic in our stores.”
Walmart CEO Doug McMillon gave a glimpse at the future of the company.
“Looking ahead, we’ll compete with technology, but we’ll win with people. We’ll be people-led and tech-empowered,” McMillon said.
Improvements in E-Commerce were a major part of the meeting. Speakers referenced Walmart’s pick-up option and also discussed new delivery features, keeping the company competitive in a digital age.
