LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Little Rock Sergeant Cody Miller knows the dangers.
“I’ve been assaulted, shot at,” he said.
Miller also knows how quickly life can come to an end.
“When you sign up for this job you know you’re going to be taking those risks, you know that’s something in the back of your mind,” he said.
No matter the situation, he knows he has to go home each and every night for his family. He’s reminded of that every day.
His wife and two-year-old girl gave him a coin for Valentine’s Day. The coin says: Be safe, Daddy. We need you here with us.
Miller said the coin goes beyond love.
“You always have to have that motivation in the back of your mind and heart.
He said no matter how dangerous the job might be, his family knows he is doing something good and standing up for those who need help.
“My little girl loves what I do. She knows when I go to work, she says ‘you’re going to work to catch the bad guys’,” said Miller.
As he gets ready for each shift, he will have a special piece close to his heart reminding him of who he will be going home to.
“It’s kind of everything wrapped up in just a few words that my family needs me at home,” he said.
Miller became an officer because his brother is a police officer at a different department.
