PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. – A Little Rock Police Department helicopter has crashed near Ironton Cut-Off Road.
One serious injury has been reported, and a second person who was on board is reported as not injured. Police say the injured man, the pilot, is a retired officer who has a head injury. He had to be extricated from the wreckage.
Officials say a new battery had been installed on the chopper and they were trying to take off to test it when wind blew the helicopter over as the blades were spinning. We’re told the helicopter did not leave the ground and it is a total loss.
The scene is in southern Pulaski County. The LRPD gives the address as 11400 Ironton Cut-Off Road.
