FORREST CITY, Ark. – The rapper performing during the Little Rock mass shooting is in an Arkansas jail. Ricky Hampton, known as Finese2Tymes is facing charges stemming from a different night club shooting in Forrest City.
When Hampton was escorted into the St. Francis County Jail he said, “shout out to Little Rock.” He also claimed he was innocent for the shootings that have followed him where he preforms.
“I’m innocent. I’m innocent. I just want everything to be over with,” said Hampton.
Hampton is facing aggravated assault charges after a shooting outside the Envy Night Club in Forrest City. Quincy Malone was at the club that night. He says he did not see Hampton fire a gun.
“I didn’t see him. Nobody can tell you they saw him unless the person that was actually there saw him pull the gun. I can’t say he did it. He’s innocent,” said Malone.
Hampton, who is a felon, is also facing federal charges. Authorities found weapons in the car he was in when he was arrested in Birmingham, Alabama in early July. Malone simply does not think Hampton is involved.
“To say it was him is ridiculous. He’s an upcoming artist just trying to make it like everyone else is,” said Malone.
The Forrest City incident happened less than a week before the Little Rock mass shooting that injured 25 people on July 1st. Hampton is not facing charges for that at this time.
“Do you have anything to say about that shooting or the shootings that follow you?” reporter Stephanie Sharp asked.
“I don’t have anything to do with it,” Hampton responded.
Hampton is still claiming innocence as he’s escorted into jail.
“I have nothing to do with it. They just put in on me because I’m the rapper, I guess,” said Hampton.
St. Francis’s County authorities say he will stay at the jail until at least Monday when he’ll be taken into federal custody.
