Kimberly-Clark Corp. Officials Considering Closing Conway Mill

CONWAY, Ark.- Kimberly-Clark Corp. officials are considering closing its mill in Conway.

Jamie Gates, the Executive Vice President of the Conway Development Corporation, told Arkansas Business Kimberly-Clark officials told the Conway Chamber of Commerce Thursday.

In January 2018, the company announced  a new global restructuring initiative that will cost thousands of workers their jobs. The company reportedly plans to close or sell about 10 manufacturing facilities. Company officials said savings will be driven by workforce reductions, which are anticipated to be in a range of 5,000 to 5,500 (12 to 13 percent of current headcount), along with manufacturing supply chain efficiencies.

In addition to the Conway mill, there is also a manufacturing facility in Maumelle.
