LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Police have shared new details from the scene where human remains were found in a local park on Tuesday.

The Little Rock Police Department briefed reporters from the scene inside Chalamont Park.

The LRPD says the remains found are skeletal and were found in a drainage pipe that runs parallel to the park underground and has a manhole cover.

FBI agents are on the scene assisting police investigators with sifting through dirt.

When local teen Ebby Steppach was reported missing in Oct. 2015, her car was found abandoned at Chalamont Park.

The Family of Ebby Jane Steppach issued the following statement through a family friend:
According to Laurie Jernigan, the mother of Ebby Jane Steppach, the Little Rock Police Department has reported the RECOVERY OF POSSIBLE HUMAN REMAINS at Chalamont Park, Tuesday, May 22nd, 2018.

The family of EBBY JANE STEPPACH would like to relay to friends and loved ones out of your love & respect for Ebby’s immediate family, they are requesting to please not contact them until they are able to make one public statement to confirm the findings of this investigation.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Little Rock Police Department (LRPD) says officers and detectives are on the scene in Chalamont Park regarding the possible recovery of human remains.

The LRPD posted the information on its Facebook page early Tuesday afternoon.

Chalamont Park is located just south of Highway 10/Cantrell Road.

In November 2016, police searched the park as part of the investigation into the disappearance of teenager Ebby Steppach and it was the last place where she was reported to have been seen in Oct. 2015 and her car was found at the park a week after she was reported missing.
