Former Hog Hoping for Pole Vault Gold

Local News

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil — While Cabot’s Lexi Weeks didn’t make it to the pole vaulting finals, former Hog and Fayetteville’s Sandi Morris will compete for a medal.

Morris easily cleared her vaults on Tuesday propelling her into Friday’s final.

She’s the current American record holder after clearing 4.93m/16-2 at the American Track League competition in Houston last month.

Morris is one of only two American women to clear a 16-foot bar.

She told Aaron Nolan that she’s taking a little time to enjoy Rio before buckling down ahead of Friday’s medal round.

Another former Razorback, Tina Sutej, of Slovenia, is also in the competition.
