Digital Original: Student paints large murals on buildings to inspire positivity

Local News

BATESVILLE, Ark. – If you happen to be visiting downtown Batesville. Be sure to keep your eye open for unique large murals painted on the side of buildings.

Morgun Henson, an art student at Lyon College, has been painting some of her very own and is getting noticed by her community for her original designs and choices in vibrant colors.

“I like that it’s kind of like a permanent mark,” says Henson. “I mean this will probably be gone in thirty years but for now this is here and it’s mine.”

Her concepts behind each mural are to help spread positivity. Each mural is hand painted and can take up to three weeks – depending on size.

She has already painted two large scale murals around downtown Batesville and hopes to continue painting more.

“I really enjoy doing this because not only is it relaxing but I get to meet new people,” Henson explains. “It is very different working outside, but I enjoy it.”

Her original designs are messages of positivity. She hopes others will be inspired to look for the positives in their lives.
