City opens cooling centers for those affected by storm

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (News release) – The City of Little Rock announced Friday that community centers are open for those residents in need of cool shelter after a Wednesday storm knocked out power in some neighborhoods leaving many without air conditioning.

Those community centers and their hours are:

Friday Only

Dunbar Community Center – 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

1001 W. 16th – 501-376-1084

East Little Rock Community Center – 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

2500 E. 6th Street – 501-374-2881

Stephens Community Center – 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

3720 W. 18th – 501-603-9974

Friday and Saturday

Centre at University Park – 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Friday & Saturday)

6401 W. 12th Street – 501-661-1700

Southwest Community Center – 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. (Friday) / 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Saturday)

6401 Baseline Road – 501-918-3975


West Central Community Center – 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Friday & Saturday)
