Chintan Desai Announces Race for AR 1st District Congress Seat

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Chintan Desai, of Helena, is officially seeking the Democratic nomination for a U.S. House seat in east Arkansas. 

Chintan Desai announced Thursday his intentions to run for United States Congress from Arkansas’ 1st Congressional District.

The seat is currently held by U.S. Rep. Rick Crawford, of Jonesboro, who was first elected in 2010. 

Chintan has called Arkansas home for the past seven years. Chintan grew up in San Luis Obispo, California, the son of Indian immigrant parents. He attended the University of California, Davis for his undergraduate degree, where he studied Political Science. 

Chintan is the regional Project Manager for KIPP Delta Public Schools, where he has also taught 5th grade social studies for two years. He has worked as the region’s Executive Assistant, and worked for a year and a half on staff for Teach For America Arkansas.
