Baxter County deputy released from hospital after being hit by alleged drunk driver

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. — A Baxter County deputy is recovering after getting hit by an alleged drunk driver Friday night.

Deputy Jacob Zappa has been released from the hospital.

He was in his patrol car during a traffic stop when the collision occurred around 11:00 p.m.

Sheriff John Montgomery is thanking the public for offering well-wishes.

The driver who ran into the deputy’s unit is in custody.

Arkansas State Police are investigating.
