LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Arkansas will hold its annual sales tax holiday, beginning Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 12:01 a.m. and ending Sunday, August 5, 2018 at 11:59 p.m.
State and local sales tax will not be collected during this 48-hour period on the sale of:
- Clothing and footwear if the sales price is less than one hundred dollars ($100) per item;
- Clothing accessories and equipment if the sales price is less than fifty dollars ($50) per item;
- School supplies;
- School art supplies;
- School instructional materials.
Walmart has released its Go Back Big campaign hoping to lure in customers with easier ways to shop during the tax holiday.
The retail chain's spokesperson says customers can download the Walmart app to find local school supply lists and shop on the app or on the website.
Customers can even pick up purchases ordered online in the store this weekend to take advantage of the no-tax event.
"We know this is such an exciting time of year for our parents and students and teachers and we're here to help them get everything they need," says Erin Hulliberger, Walmart spokesperson.
