Lawmakers discuss closing the ‘digital divide’

WASHINGTON- How do you turn an FCC order to improve the quality and availability of rural broadband into something that will actually allow Americans in rural areas to watch Netflix or participate in an online class?  

This week, lawmakers, led by Sen. John Thune (R- South Dakota) held a hearing on how to make a meaningful federal investment that might actually begin to close the so-called digital divide. 

In the clip above, Washington, D.C. correspondent Alexandra Limon reports lawmakers got some ideas from two telecommunication companies.
