Update: Human remains found in Pine Bluff identified, police say



PINE BLUFF, Ark. — The human remains found on a railroad track in Pine Bluff on August 23 have now been identified.

The remains have been identified as Thomas Matthews Jr., 33, who was previously living in Star City.

The Pine Bluff Police Department has declared the manner of death a homicide due to gunshot. They are still investigating the incident.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Pine Bluff Police confirm finding human remains in a wooded area.

The remains were found Friday afternoon at West 4th Avenue and South Short Juniper Street.

They are not yet releasing any details.

The remains have been sent to the State Crime Lab for autopsy and identification.
