HECTOR, Ark. – A second grade teacher at Hector Elementary School experienced quite the surprise today.

When Lisa Graves picked up a curtain off the floor in her classroom she found a snake coiled in the corner.

Trying to keep her students some what calm, she sent her students to the classroom next door and called the office.

Principal Kara Rohr happened to be walking by and offered to assist with the snake.

Principal Rohr previously worked for the Arkansas State Parks and says she is comfortable handling snakes.

As she picked it up, it latched on to her thumb.
