Diamond Hogs Defeat Oral Roberts 10-2 In NCAA Regional

Friday starts are nothing new for Blaine Knight. Today’s first game of the Fayetteville Regional saw Knight do what he’s done all season.

In the Hogs 10-2 win over Oral Roberts, Knight went a season high 8 innings, giving up 3 hits, 2 runs and striking out 2. He’s now 11-0 on the season

ORU starting pitcher Justin McGregor lasting 5.1 innings, giving up 4 runs and 6 hits.

Heston Kjerstad, the SEC Freshman of the Year, got Arkansas on the board in the bottom of the 3rd with a 2-run home run. It’s Kjerstad’s first home run of the postseason after hitting 11 during the regular season.

The Golden Eagles answered with a solo home run by Riley Keizor in the top of the 5th to cut the lead in half, 2-1.

Then in the 6th, senior Carson Shaddy made it a two run game once more, sending a solo shot into the Hog Pen in left center field. Grant Koch followed suit with an RBI single to left field. Then Jax Biggers with his 4th home run of the year, extending the lead to 6-1.

Keizor the only bright spot for the Golden Eagles’ offense Friday, hitting his second home run off of Knight in the 7th inning to make it 6-2.

The scoring only continued in the 8th as Kjerstad hit his second home run of the season and plated two more for the Hogs. Hunter Wilson added another run to the board on an ORU throwing error.

Cody Scroggins came into the game in the 9th to close it out for Arkansas.

Arkansas advances to play the winner of Southern Mississippi and Dallas Baptist Saturday at 7pm.
