Community Cooling Centers Open in LR

News

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – With temperatures expected to rise throughout the week, a few Little Rock community facilities will be operating as cooling centers.

The Dunbar Community Center, Southwest Community Center, East Little Rock Community Center and Stephens Community Center will open their doors during regular business hours for those looking to beat the heat.

Each center has rooms for cooling off and providing water and snacks to those in need. Staff at the center say it’s important for those who may not have air conditioning in their homes.

Two of those cooling centers were also open for those without power over the weekend, but the city of Little Rock says the cooling centers are expected to remain open weekdays during prolonged periods of heat.
