LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Roses are red, candy is sweet. If it’s February 14th, it’s time for funny political tweets.
Valentine’s Day in Little Rock means the return of a beloved, and increasingly popular tradition. In 2013, Associated Press Capitol reporter Andrew DeMillo started the tradition of writing love poetry with a political twist on Twitter.
Since then, the hashtag #ARLegValentines has been in heavy rotation among Arkansas politicos, including lawmakers and statewide office holders like Attorney General Leslie Rutledge. It has also caught on in other states.
In this Capitol View web exclusive, Jessi Turnure, Ryan Norris, and Alex Gray run down some of their favorite #ARLegValentines of 2019.
Capitol View airs Sunday mornings at 8:30 a.m. on KARK-TV directly before NBC’s Meet the Press. It is hosted by Jessi Turnure.
