Capitol Preview: Funding for Arkansas highways and Trump’s border wall

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – On this week’s Capitol View, the author of the casino amendment and the state director of Americans for Prosperity join Jessi Turnure to break down the governor’s highway funding plan and what proposed constitutional amendments lawmakers could refer to voters.

Alex Gray and Ryan Norris debate the ins and outs of the $300 million highway proposal, including how a new sales tax on gas and diesel would impact Arkansans and how much tax revenue would come in from casinos. They also discuss tort reform’s comeback and what other issues they would like to see on the 2020 ballot.

Plus, President Trump declared a national emergency Friday to fund a border wall. The moderator of Meet the Press, Chuck Todd, joins Turnure to explain how soon the issue could get to the U.S. Supreme Court and if the Arkansas delegation’s split on the border security bill is reflective of the GOP divide in Congress.
