LRSD Boosts Graduation Security

Ar Local

Little Rock School District graduation ceremonies continued hours after a student was shot leaving graduation rehearsal at Verizon Arena. Leaders say they do not want the incident to overshadow graduates’ accomplishments but many parents admit safety was a huge concern Tuesday night.

Verizon Arena, North Little Rock Police and the Little Rock School District added extra security personnel inside and outside of the arena. While the security was heavier than normal, people seemed most concerned about supporting their graduates.

Many families called the ceremonies a success but say they were still concerned about the victim and the shooter.

Parent Stacey Allen said,  “It’s great for McClellan family and my family but you’ve gotta look back and remember both of these kids are injured.”

LRSD will keep extra security throughout the remaining graduations.
