Little Rock city leaders approved increasing the budget for a multi-use police substation building in the 12th street corridor after a lengthy debate Tuesday night.
Construction costs for the project have soared-adding roughly $2 million to the original price tag.
People who live in the community say, it’s expensive, but worth it.
Youth Program Coordinator Charles Bruce says, “It makes me feel wonderful, makes me feel people haven’t forgotten about his part of town. They are trying to put money in this side of town and create opportunities and make it a lot safer for us in this community.”
The board approved a maximum budget of $12, 495,642 for the project.
