Dozens of Little Rock volunteers are packing up and preparing for a big trip across the globe to help people living in extreme poverty.

Go Near Ministries is preparing to take nearly 40 Arkansans to Nairobi, Kenya on a three week trip starting June 11th.  Participants have packed much more than vacation gear, they’re taking donated soccer uniforms and school supplies to orphans and widows for their volunteer work in the slums.

“Our work in Africa shows us the importance of education in Africa for children in Africa to raise out of poverty and have a better life,” says group leader and founder Melody Taylor.

Students from Little Rock Christian Academy donated supplies and graduation gowns. Go Near is taking 50 suitcases full of donations from Central Arkansas to Kenya.
