Fireworks Sales Rise Without Burn Bans

Ar Local

It’s hot outside but the entire state is free of burn bans, leaving many Arkansas firework retailers hopeful they can bounce back after a dangerous and dry year.

In July of 2012 burn bans covered most of the state and shot down their chances for a successful fireworks season.

Owners of  The Last Stand fireworks stand in Pulaski County say last year was their worst in nearly 40 years and they barely survived.

“It was hard, real hard, but we’re not going to give up, we’re here and we’re going to do it again,” says Penny Roberts.

There is relatively low fire risk across the state but the Arkansas Forestry Commission is still warning people to be careful.
