NORTHWEST, Ark. – An Arkansas base disaster relief group is top 20 finalist for a Congression Medal of Honor.
The northwest Arkansas Sheep Dog Assistance Team is made up of veterans and first responders who mobilize whenever and wherever they are needed most.
This week they are returning home from Alabama after five days cleaning up trees and home toppled by a deadly tornado.
“While we were done there we were able to hit 19 properties. We cleared 278 trees. We assisted 61 people,” says Jason Dixon, Disaster response coordinator SDIA.
The citizen honors awards recognize those who embody courage, sacrifice, commitment, integrity, citizenship, and patriotism.
