JACKSONVILLE, Ark. – Police have released the name of an armed robbery suspect who died Friday, one day after being shot by a store clerk.

The Jacksonville Police Department (JPD) released the update on Tuesday and identified the suspect as Brandon Thomas, 19.

His body has been taken to the State Crime Lab for autopsy.

The JPD says the case file will be sent to the Prosecuting Attorney’s office for review, once the local investigation is complete.

Thomas was shot on Feb. 14 in a late evening armed robbery of a store at 1530 West Main Street.

Police say the clerk grabbed the gun he kept under the counter and fired a shot at Thomas.
