Police: Argument Escalates Into Shooting in Fort Smith

FORT SMITH, Ark. (KNWA) — A Fort Smith man is in the hospital after an argument erupted into a shooting.

The man, who was not identified by Fort Smith police, is in a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover.

Sgt. Wendall Sampson with the Fort Smith Police Department said that one man walked up to another man in the 5100 block of South 28th Street and asked him for something. An argument ensued and one of the men pulled out a gun and shot the other in the leg.

A suspect has not been apprehended, but he is believed to be armed and dangerous.
