LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock police are investigating after a shooting left one man dead Tuesday night.

According to the Little Rock Police Department, officers responded to a shots-fired call in the 10000 block of Republic Lane.

After arriving on the scene, officers said they found 18-year-old Xavier Johnson suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Authorities said medical personnel transported Johnson to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Police have not released any information on a suspect at this time.

During a news conference Wednesday, LRPD Chief Keith Humphrey said the shooting could possibly be tied to another deadly shooting earlier in the day in the area of Keats Drive and Dreher Lane that was also connected to a crash in the area of Geyer Springs and Nova Lane.

“We’re actively seeking warrants for several individuals and we are very aware of their involvement of these homicides,” Humphrey told reporters.

Investigators also announced they are looking for a vehicle tied to killing at Keats Drive and Dreher Lane, a red 200s model Jeep Liberty with a damaged rear window that may be covered by black plastic.

According to the LRPD, there have been 57 homicides in Little Rock so far in 2021, compared to 45 homicides at this same time the year prior.
