CONWAY, Ark. – Conway police said they arrested a man Thursday morning after a shooting during a custody exchange in a store parking lot left one person injured.

According to the Conway Police Department, the shooting happened in the parking lot of 10Box Cost-Plus on Harkrider Street around 7:45 a.m. After arriving on the scene, officers said that they found a man who had been shot.

Officers said they took 27-year-old Kyren Freeman into custody at a nearby home and he is now being held at the Faulkner County Detention Center.

Officials with the CPD said that the people involved were exchanging custody of a child at the time of the incident.

Police said that the victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Freeman is facing charges of criminal attempt to commit murder in the first degree, endangering the welfare of a minor and an unrelated misdemeanor warrant.
