SILOAM SPRINGS, AR (KNWA) – The Siloam Springs Police Department is starting its move into a new headquarters this week.

The department’s new offices just off Highway 412 will house the administration, criminal investigation and records divisions.

The new location, an old USA Drug store, was bought and remodeled for just around $4 million. That’s half the cost of building a new facility from the ground up and police hope the new offices will alleviate most of the department’s growing pains.

“We had no interview rooms in the detention area. We now have interview rooms within our detention area, as well as on the secured side and it’s a more functional space,” said Capt. Geoff Lewis, Siloam Springs Deputy Police Chief. “Square footage wise, this building is not a lot bigger from the footprint of our existing building but a third of our existing building is being utilized by courts, so we’ve gained that space.”

Patrol officers and dispatchers will move to the new building sometime next year.
