LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Food donations dwindle down in the spring and summer months leaving many families hungry but now you have the chance to help fight food insecurity in our area.
Arvest Bank’s Million Meals initiative is challenging people in northwest Arkansas to provide at least one million meals to hungry families.
Volunteers and donations from the community help make a big impact on non-profits like the Samaritan Community House.
Their snack packs for kids serves 6,000 children in northwest Arkansas alone.
“Donations are huge, it’s a pretty expensive program to operate…Six thousand kids, two dollars a snack pack… That takes a lot of funds, a lot of people to pack those and a lot of people to deliver them,” says Debbie Rambo, Executive Director for the Samaritan Community Center.
Every dollar raised through million meals provides the equivalent of five meals for those in need.
